Training

Learning opportunities for officers in Kent, related to design quality, collaboration and placemaking.

The Kent Training Programme is a public‑sector‑only, countywide partnership programme run by Design South East, offering a structured and practical approach to building design skills and strategic placemaking capability across Kent’s local authorities and the County Council.

It comprises tailored training for junior planners, senior planners, cross‑disciplinary and cross‑departmental teams, and elected members, supporting plan‑making, pre‑application and decision‑making stages.

Delivered through a hybrid model that prioritises in‑person learning alongside targeted online modules, site visits and specialist sessions, the programme is designed to be accessible, relevant and directly applicable to real planning challenges, helping to improve design quality, strengthen collaboration and deliver better places across Kent.
