It presents what good looks like in Kent, setting clear expectations and quality standards for future development proposals.
How was this guide developed?
Originally published in 2005, this web-based edition of the Kent Design Guide has been shaped by extensive engagement with Kent’s county and local authorities, developers, house builders and partnership organisations through a series of workshops and feedback sessions between 2021 and 2025. Their reflections, expertise and commitment to design quality are reflected throughout the website structure and content.
